Buffy and Peanut are a mother and daughter duo who came to Cocker Nation when their owner passed away. Buffy, the mom, will be 5 years old this May and Peanut, her daughter, will be 4 years old in June. Although they are not overly dependent on one another, these sweet girls will need to be adopted as a pair because they have been together their whole lives and separating them will be too stressful. They enjoy playing outside in their foster’s backyard; therefore, their new home will require a fenced yard. Families with mature children over 12 years old will be considered. They also would like a family that is not gone 8+ hours a day.
Both girls are spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention, microchipped, and housebroken. They walk well on a leash and both know the command “sit”.
The girls are very shy in new situations. When they first came to rescue, they were afraid of human touch and doing anything new. Slowly they learned that new people and places are ok, especially when they are gentle and were introduced slowly. They will need time to adjust and will need a family who is willing to take the time to continue to socialize them with people, take them in the car so they can become more confident riders, and introduce them to fun of everyday life. They absolutely love attention and once they get to know you, they will want to cuddle with you. Their little nubby tails wiggle with excitement while they follow their foster mom throughout the house. Peanut knows the word “treat” and will sit pretty and take one gently. Buffy prefers “people food” treats, but is learning to like dog treats. Buffy also loves to chase a ball and play with soft toys. Peanut is the snuggler, and is happiest when she can be touching you while sitting on the couch. Both girls know the word “outside”, and will run to the door to go out potty. They love to run and play in the yard and even enjoyed the snow this winter.
If you are willing and have the time to continue to help these girls enjoy all aspects of dog life, please fill out an application on our site.
